Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta also changed his name on the badge to 'Harjeet Singh' for today and took to Twitter to express his support.
Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh also took to Twitter and updated a video sharing the status of braveheart Sub Inspector.  The video shows  Harjeet Singh’s in a recovery mode after two weeks of the operation. The chief ministers says, “I am extremely happy to share that he is recovering well and that his hand has started to regain movement.”
On April 12, SI Harjeet Singh’s hand was chopped off and two other police officials were injured when a group of people allegedly attacked them in Punjab’s Patiala district. A group of ''Nihangs'' (Sikhs armed with traditional weapons and dressed in loose blue top) were travelling in a vehicle and started attacking the policemen when they were asked to show their curfew passes, according to a PTI report. After the incident, Singh’s hand was successfully reimplanted in an eight-hour surgery by doctors at the PGI Hospital in Chandigarh. The Sub-Inspector is still recovering in the hospital. He was later promoted from Assitant Sub Inspector to Sub Inspector for his courageous act.
