New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday summoned Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha Raut in connection with a money laundering case related to the redevelopment of a chawl, ANI reported.
In 2020, Raut's wife Varsha allegedly received Rs 83 lakh indirectly from Pravin Raut's wife Madhuri. She transferred Rs 55 lakh back to Madhuri later. The ED has alleged that Varsha Raut used the money to buy a flat in Dadar.

Apart from this, the ED has alleged that eight plots of land were purchased at Kihim beach at Alibaug in Maharashtra in the name of Varsha Raut and Swapna Patkar, wife of Sujit Patkar, a close associate of Sanjay Raut.
Meanwhile, a special court in Mumbai has extended till August 8 the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut.
Raut has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. Extending the custody, the court said the ED has made "remarkable progress" in the investigation.
Raut was arrested on Sunday midnight by the central agency in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the redevelopment of Patra 'Chawl' in suburban Goregaon and financial transactions involving his and his and the alleged associates' properties. The court had on Monday sent Raut to ED custody till August 4.
