Odisha Board Exams 2021: Classes 10, 12 Exams To Be Conducted Offline, Says Mass Education Minister SR Dash

The School and Mass Education Department is considering reopening schools for students of Class 9 and onwards, while Class 10 and Class 12 board examination will be held after a minimum of three months of class-room teaching.

Odisha Classes 10, 12 board examination: In a major update related to board examination in Odisha, the 2021 board examination for Classes 10 and 12 will be held conducted in the offline mode on an extended schedule instead of its usual dates in February and March. The information has been updated by Odisha Mass Education Minister S R Dash on Thursday.Also Read: Maharashtra Teacher Wins $1 Million Global Prize - He Transformed A Rundown School To Be The Best In District The state will follow the instruction issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education to conduct the board examination through the conventional written mode. However, the tests will be delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. "It is not possible on the part of both Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) to conduct the examination in February and March, as many students cannot access the online classes," the minister said. The minister said the School and Mass Education Department is considering reopening schools for students of Class 9 and onwards, and Odisha Class 10 and Class 12 board examination can only be held after a minimum of three months of class-room teaching. "We will take a decision keeping the students' interests in mind as per COVID-19 guidelines," Dash added. The Odisha Government has said in its December guidelines that educational institutions under control and supervision of the department can reopen for Classes 9-12. Meanwhile CBSE has said the board has not taken any decision regarding the dates for the class 10, 12 examinations. The board is still in talks with the stakeholders. However, the board had confirmed that the Class 10, 12 exams will be held in written mode in line with the Centre's Covid-19 protocols.
