No Celebratory Events To Mark 7th Anniversary Of Modi Govt On May 30: BJP Chief JP Nadda

BJP, which is in power since 2014, won a majority of 303 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha in 2019, claiming the government at Centre for the second term. It is due to complete the second year of its second term on May 30.

The Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda has said that the ruling party will not hold any celebratory event on the seventh anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government this year.

Instead, various programme welfare programmes will be launched on May 30, to express gratefulness to people to give the BJP opportunity to serve them. A programme for the welfare of children orphaned by the COVID-19 pandemic will be also be launched on the occasion.

In a letter to the Chief Minister of BJP-ruled states, Nadda said that no event will be held to mark the anniversary due to the circumstances caused by the pandemic. He said that the pandemic has caused deep wounds on the nation, with many children losing both parents to the disease. He asked the chief ministers to care for their future, take solid steps in this regard, and prepare a scheme keeping in mind the needs and situation of their states.

"Standing by children who have lost both parents and providing them every support for their safe future is also our social responsibility... The idea is that all BJP-ruled states launch the programme together when the BJP-led government at the Centre completes seven years," he said, as reported by PTI.

PM Modi-led union government is in power since 2014 and is due to complete the second year of its second term in office on May 30. The party won a majority of 303 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha in 2019, claiming the government at Centre for the second term.

Last year, the saffron party had released a nine-minute video to mark the sixth anniversary of the BJP in power. The video highlighted the achievements and initiatives by PM Modi's government, such as Swachh Bharat (Clean India) campaign, nullification of the Constitution’s Article 370 and passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act.
