Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday refuted all the rumours of NCP leader Ajit Pawar joining the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). He said that these rumours are just "in the mind of the media" and not in our heads. Pawar also denied the claims of him chairing any party meeting regarding this. This comes amid the speculation of Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar mulling over joining the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, and nearly a dozen of NCP MLAs supporting his decision.

NCP has 53 MLAs in Maharashtra. In order to avoid disqualification, Ajit Pawar needs to get support from at least two-third of MLAs.

Amid all the speculations, Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule said that in 15 days there will be two big political explosions, one in Delhi and the other in Maharashtra.

Last week, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Bal Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut said that the future of Ajit Pawar is bright with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and he might not join BJP. While addressing the media, Sanjay Raut said, "NCP leader Ajit Pawar is a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress party. I don't think he will do such things and go with them (BJP).

It is pertinent to mention that the Enforcement Directorate is probing Ajit Pawar and the company linked to his family. It is said that not directly but money laundering has taken place on a large scale in the purchase and sale of this sugar mill. In Lal Dora 2021, the Enforcement Directorate had attached the Jarandeshwar Sugar Mill property.

In 2019, Ajit Pawar took oath as Deputy Chief Minister along with BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis. But within 48 hours the Fadnavis and Pawar government had fallen. At that time it was claimed that Ajit Pawar had the support of most of the MLAs but Sharad Pawar had turned the tables.
