India recorded 7,633 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours on Tuesday taking the total number of active cases to 61,233 while 6,702 people recovered from the infection as per the data shared by the health ministry.
On Monday, the country logged 9,111 new cases of Covid-19, while the active cases had climbed to 60,313 and the death toll rose to 5,31,141 with 27 deaths, according to the health ministry data.
While six deaths were reported from Gujarat, four were from Uttar Pradesh, three each from Delhi and Rajasthan, two from Maharashtra, one each from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, and three reconciled by Kerala.
4,42,35,772 patients have recuperated from the infection so far.
Delhi Reports 1,017 Cases, Positivity Rate At 32.25%
On Monday, the national capital had 1,017 cases of Covid-19 while the positivity rate jumped to 32.35 per cent, the highest in 15 months, as per the data by the city's health department. The new cases have taken Delhi's tally of coronavirus cases to 20,24,244 with four fresh fatalities that pushed the death toll to 26,567.
Of the latest fatalities, COVID-19 was the primary cause of death in two cases, it stated.
On Sunday, the city logged 1,634 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 29.68 per cent and three deaths.
On Saturday, 1,396 cases were recorded with a positivity rate of 31.9 per cent.
Slight Dip In Cases In Maharashtra, No Death
Maharashtra reported 505 cases of coronavirus on Monday with an active caseload which took the tally to 81,56,344, while the death toll stood unchanged at 1,48,479, according to the state health department official, reported PTI.
Mumbai circle led with 262 cases, followed by 90 in Pune circle, 86 in Aurangabad circle, 39 in Akola circle, 12 in Nashik circle, seven in Kolhapur circle, six in Latur circle, and three in Aurangabad circle, he said.
334 patients recovered from the infection taking the aggregate number of recovered cases to 80,01,778.
