Nissan has introduced a new base variant of the diesel-powered Nissan Kicks named the XE. Along with the new variant, the feature list of the existing variants have also been updated.
Before diving into the details, let’s take a look at the updated prices of the diesel variants.
The new XE variant gets safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as standard. It also comes loaded with features like automatic climate control with rear vents, Bluetooth enabled audio system with four speakers, Nissan Connect (telematic services), LED DRLs and a front seat center armrest.
The previous base variant - the Kicks XL - is now priced at Rs 11.09 lakh and gets some more features like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with steering mounted audio controls, ECO mode, front fog lamps and functional roof rails.
Nissan is now offering cruise control, push-button start, smart card key, LED projector headlamps, and hill assist on the top two trims - the XV and XV Pre. These features were earlier limited to the XV Pre and XV Pre Option (now discontinued).
The XV Pre is now the top of the line Kicks diesel variant. It gets side airbags, a 360-degree around view monitor, leather upholstery, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and is priced at Rs 13.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Kicks SUV is offered with a choice of both diesel and petrol engine options. The 1.5-litre diesel unit is paired with a 6-speed manual and produces 110PS of power and 240Nm of torque.
Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and churns out 106PS of power and 142Nm of torque.
Nissan has also worked on its after-sales package and now offers the Kicks SUV with a 5-year warranty with 24x7 roadside assistance compared to the previously offered 3-year coverage only.
The Kicks now comes with two different maintenance packages as well - Bronze, which covers scheduled maintenance and Silver, which covers the wear and tear (excluding battery and tyres). Nissan claims these packages offer customers savings of up to 30 per cent on regular maintenance costs of the Kicks SUV.
The revised prices, features and maintenance packages are likely to make the Kicks more appealing in a cut-throat segment that consists of best-sellers such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Renault Duster and the upcoming Kia Seltos.
