Kodagu (Karnataka): In an alarming incident, at least six people, including four children, were burnt to death after the room in which they were sleeping was set on fire by a family member in an inebriated state in Mugatageri village of Karnataka’s Kodagu district.  


The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday. According to police, the man identified as Yeravara Boja committed the crime following a quarrel with his spouse.

The 50-year-old, who worked as a labourer, used to often fight with his wife after getting drunk following which she left the house a week ago and went to stay at her brother’s house in the same village.


He is said to have used a ladder to reach the roof and pour petrol into the room after removing the tiles. He then shut its windows and door before setting it on fire, the Deccan Herald Reported.

The man fled after setting the room on fire. He has not been arrested yet.
