Bengaluru: With Covid cases on a rise in the neigbouring states, Karnataka stands on a double-edged sword as at least 543 children in the age group of 0-18 have tested positive for the deadly Coronvirus in the span of 10 days. However, there are no fatalities reported in this age group. After reports emerged, CM Basavaraj Bommai called for an emergency meeting to address the issues.


This happens just ahead of the schools and colleges in the state gearing up to reopen from August 23. Amid growing cases and ahead of the schools & colleges reopening Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, held a Covid review meeting with the officials to know the ground report.

The Karnataka government have earlier decided to tighten the Covid curbs in the state but the CM have ruled out complete lockdown in the capital of the state. Despite tightening surveillance in the district sharing border with Kerala, Dakshina Kannada emerges as hotspot following which the CM pulls up the districts admin for poor Covid management. The frontline workers in Dakshina Kannada were allegedly facing acute shortage of face masks and gloves.


Today's meeting comes amid CM's tour to the districts with high prevelance of Covid cases.
