Bengaluru: In an unprecedented incident, the miscreants burned down two luxury vehicles belonging to 3-time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Satish Reddy, parked inside the compound of his residence here on Thursday.


The incident, which took place in the wee hours, has created tension in Bengaluru as this is said to be allegedly linked to the unveiling of the Shiva statue at a lake in Reddy’s constituency.

Expressing concern over the incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called Satish Reddy an important party leader and said the police would crack this case at the earliest.


“I am pained by the incident. CCTV footage is being collected and I am hopeful that police would crack the case soon,” IANS quoted Bommai as saying from Mangaluru.


Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, who visited the BJP MLA’s residence after the incident, informed that three teams have been formed to probe the matter.


Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant also visited Reddy’s residence to monitor the ongoing probe.


The miscreants, as per reports, are suspected to have gained entry from the backdoor. They set the luxury cars on fire after pouring petrol on the vehicles.


The place where these vehicles were parked was not covered by the CCTV cameras, according to police.

Security has been beefed up security near the BJP MLA’s residence and Shiva statue in Begur lake after this incident.
