Kangana Ranaut Treason Case: Huge Relief For Sisters As Court Extends Date To Jan 25

Sister Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli get relief from police proceedings and arrest as the Bombay High Court extends date till January 25th 2021

New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel from Bombay High Court have been given relief. The court has given the sisters an extension for a week, till January 25th 2021. The High Court told the Mumbai Police that Kangana was not required to call again and inquire till the given date. The Maharashtra government told the court that Ranaut had posted a video on Twitter talking about the case before going to the police. The complainant's lawyer Rizwan Merchant said that it is in contempt of court. On January 8th Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel recorded their statement in the sedition case filed by feature film casting director Munnawarali alias Sahil Ahsrafali Sayyed which was registered at the Bandra Police station. The casting director and fitness trainer accused the sisters of 'promoting enmity between communities' through their posts on social media. An FIR was registered against the siblings under various sections of the IPC including 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295A (deliberate and malicious act to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting their religion) and 124A (sedition), as per a report in PTI. She filed a petition in the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR registered against her and Chandel. The court granted interim protection to the duo and directed them to appear before the Mumbai Police on January 8th. Kangana Ranaut who has been active of Twitter, released a video seeking support from her fans. In the video, she highlighted the several cases that have been filed against her for ‘standing up for the country’. Ranaut also shared how her house was ‘illegally demolished’ because of her opinion in the farmers’ issue.
