New Delhi: The Embassy of Israel in India has donated a state-of-the-art drip irrigation system to Nehru Smarak Inter College, a girls’ school in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

This innovative technology will lead to optimal water usage and conservation in the school campus besides encouraging the students to save water from a younger age.

Rony Yedidia Clein, Chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of Israel in India, expressed his delight to donate Israeli-invented drip irrigation technology to Nehru Smarak Inter College to assist them in their water conservation efforts.

Asserting that “this is another example of the multifaceted partnership between Israel and India in the fields of education and water”, Clein said: “We are keen to share our most advanced, innovative, and cutting-edge water technologies with the people of India.”

The Embassy also donated capsicum seedlings, which it had brought from the Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence in Karnal, Haryana, to the school earlier on Wednesday.

The students and teachers came together to plant these seedlings in the school campus along with volunteers from Aarohan NGO.

Rani Patel, the founder of Aarohan NGO, said the children in the school mainly hail from families of rural migrants, adding if they learn farming techniques then it is something that they can always put to use in their lives.

“At this critical time, the drip irrigation system shared by the Israeli Embassy is going to prove a boon to the marginalized students of schools towards vocational skills. This is a dream project of Aarohan for imparting inclusive value education, awareness about Sustainable Development Goals to save water, environment and to fight against global warming,” she said.

In recent decades, cutting-edge innovations developed in Israel to tackle the water shortage have helped position the country as a world leader in all aspects of water management.
