Gaya: Expressing fury over an alleged attack on his niece Kesari Devi and other family members in Gaya, former Bihar chief minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) supremo Jitan Ram Manjhi has said that he would have killed the goons if such an incident had taken place with him.

“Around 25 people, including the local strongmen, attacked my niece Kesari Devi, who is a panchayat member and her family members,” Manjhi said, ANI reported.

“If such an incident had happened with me, I would have opened fire on them and killed at least two to five of the attackers,” he added.

The former Bihar chief minister, who was interacting with the media here earlier on Tuesday, alleged that the attack was orchestrated after his niece won the panchayat elections.

“They (the attackers) thought that my family members were going out of their control and hence the attack was planned to silence them,” he said.

Questioning the role of Bihar Police, the HMC chief alleged that this incident exposed the “weakness” on part of the men in uniform.

Manjhi said that the incident took place in Mohkampur village under Barachatti block at around 8 p.m. earlier on Sunday.

The former Bihar chief minister also visited the injured persons, including his relatives, admitted in the Magadh Medical College in Gaya.

Kesari Devi’s son Avinash on his part said that the attack was carried out by the goons from the Parvati area out of hatred for their caste.

According to reports, the miscreants allegedly tried to abduct Kesari Devi’s daughter-in-law.

The goons later attacked them when the family resisted.
