Ahlawat was killed near Rohini East Metro station, officials said. A call about the incident was received around 9.30 pm, they said, adding she received gunshot wounds on her head.
Additional Commissioner of Police S.D. Mishra (Rohini district) said: "Both the sub-inspectors were deployed in Bhajanpura police station area of North-East Delhi. The woman was a probationary sub-inspectors of 2010 batch while the murderer belonged to the same grade of 2018 batch."
"On Friday, at around 1 a.m. the police found the body of woman sub-inspector in Rohini Sector-8 area with a bullet injury. After checking her mobile phone, the police came to know someone whose number was saved in the device. After scanning the chats, it was confirmed that the number was of Dipanshu Rathi," he said.
Thereafter, we found Dipanshu's corpse from his car in Haryana's Sonipat area. The vehicle was locked from inside with the headlights on, the ACP said.
Three empty cartridges were found from the spot.
Personal enmity is suspected to be the reason behind the killing.
