Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pradipsinh Vaghela has resigned from the post of general secretary of the party, as reported by the news agency ANI. This announcement comes just a year ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.


Speaking to the news agency over phone, Vaghela said that he had resigned from the post of the party's general secretary a few days back. He however did not give any reason behind his move. Vaghela is also the former president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). He had been appointed as the general secretary of the state BJP on August 10, 2016. 






Vaghela said that he has resigned due to personal reasons. Another leader Bhargava Bhatt had also tendered his resignation earlier, however, no details of his stepping have been revealed, as reported by news agency IANS. There are few organisational changes on the way, IANS reported citing sources. Vaghela was also a part of the saffron party’s campaign during the Karnataka Assembly elections.


Meanwhile, the saffron party appointed Kapil Mishra as vice president of the Delhi unit on Saturday. "On the orders of BJP Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva, Kapil Mishra has been appointed as the Vice president of the party's Delhi unit. This appointment will come into force with immediate effect," the party said in a statement, as quoted by ANI.


Earlier, BJP announced election in-charges for four poll-bound states: Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh. Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. While Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi is appointed as BJP's Rajasthan election in-charge, former Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi are appointed as co-in charges.
