'Kejriwal Needs To Be United If He Wants To Stand With Oppn': Congress On Delhi Ordinance Issue

Following AAP's remarks Cong over its stance on the Delhi ordinance issue, Congress leader Abhishek Dutt said Kejriwal needs to be united if he wanted to stand with the Opposition.

Following Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Jasmine Shah's comment that it might be difficult for the AAP to stay in any alliance that Congress is a part of if it doesn't make its stance clear on Delhi ordinance issue, Congress leader Abhishek Dutt said the ordinance should be discussed in Parliament. He further asked why Arvind Kejriwal was keen on creating a rift among the opposition, adding that Kejriwal needs to be united if he wanted to stand with the Opposition. Jasmine Shah's remarks came just after the Opposition Meeting in Patna ended.

Jasmine Shah while talking to ANI on Friday said, "All other 11 opposition parties except Congress clearly expressed their stand against the Centre's ordinance on the Delhi govt. As per reliable sources, it has come to our knowledge that Congress will support BJP on this ordinance in Rajya Sabha. If this continues, then it will be difficult for AAP to be a part of any alliance which has Congress."

Dutt responded by saying, "The ordinance should be discussed in Parliament. Why is Arvind Kejriwal keen to create a rift among the opposition? All senior leaders of opposition parties have very clearly said that this is a Parliament issue and will discuss it there. This is not an issue to be discussed in Patna. But I don't know from where Arvind Kejriwal gets direction. What is the keenness to create a fight among all the united opposition? If he wants to stand with the opposition, he needs to be united."

Meanwhile, right after attending the mega Opposition meeting in Patna Friday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hit out at the Congress, questioning its "silence" on the Centre's Delhi ordinance. It said the Congress is yet to make its stand clear on the issue. While AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann and Raghav Chadha attended the Opposition's meeting to devise a strategy for the Lok Sabha 2024 polls, the party in a statement issued later said the Congress during the "like-minded" parties' meeting refused to publicly "denounce the Black Ordinance" despite many leaders urging it to do so.
