Who Is Pamela Goswami?
Before joining politics, Goswami was a model, air hostess and then went on to become a Bengali television actress.
Even though Pamela Goswami may not be one of BJP's most popular faces in West Bengal, she holds the post of state secretary in Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM),
The BJP youth leader joined the party in 2019 at a press conference held by state BJP president Dilip Ghosh.
As per Goswami's social media posts, it is evident that she has been active on the ground recently visiting tribal families and holding/participating in meetings for party members.
She is also the observer of BJYM Hooghly district apart from being the General Secretary of BJYM Bengal.
Goswami has shared photos of her with popular BJP leaders like Mukul Roy and BJP Yuva Morcha national president Tejashwi Surya which opposition members are sharing widely after her arrest.
One of her posts also reveals that she was among the attendees of the 'Parakram Diwas' celebrations held to commemorate Subhash Chandra Bose's 125th birth anniversary at the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata.
Besides on ground work, the model turned politician has also been actively supporting the party on social media. In a recent Facebook post, she wrote "The “Real Farmers” are ashamed of such terrorist, the middle man who deprived farmers all these while! Their violent agitations are on with terror funds in support of Congress".
She even goes on to allege that "Mia khalifa is hired ISI agent to spoil image of Global leader Narendra Modi Ji. They are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony".
Arrest In Cocaine Case
BJP Yuva Morcha leaders Pamela Goswami and Prabir De were arrested with 100 grams of cocaine from New Alipore in Kolkata, police informed on Friday.
Besides them, a person named Somnath Chatterjee (aged 26) has also been arrested in connection with the seizure of about 90 grams of narcotic substance in Kolkata.
"Acting on a tip-off, New Alipore police station conducted an operation wherein they spotted a car in front of Parameswari Bhawan of 92/93 NR Avenue, Block-B, New Alipore. On searching, approximately 90 grams of narcotic material (suspected cocaine) worth approximately Rs 10 lakhs was found," the police stated.
A case has been registered under sections 21(b)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
