The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday held two people inlcuding a minor in connection with the death of two teenage girls earlier this week at an Unnao village. As reported by news agency IANS, one of the accused held in the case is a teenager identified as Vinay Kumar, alias Lambu. Lucknow Range IG Laxmi Singh reportedly said that the matter is a fallout of a one-side love affair. The accused was upset because the girl refused to marry him and or even share her phone number.


The boy allegedly decided to poison by giving some pesticide with water to the three girls as a result of which, two succumbed while the third victim is stuggling for life in a hospital. 


The three minor girls were found outside Baburaha village of Asoha area of ​​Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. Two of them were declared dead on arrival at the hospital while the third one was referred to district hospital for treatment.


Even as the post-mortem revealed no injury marks, the UP Police registered a case of murder and filed an FIR in connection with the deaths of two teenage Dalit girls. The police have slapped Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and Section 201 against the accused. 


Earlier in the day, the last rites of the two teenage girls were performed amid tight security arrangements. 


Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken serious cognisance of the incident and asked for a detailed report from the director-general of police (DGP). According to a spokesperson, he has directed officials to ensure proper treatment of the teenager.
