West Bengal CM Mamata To Meet PM On Wednesday. BSF Jurisdiction, Tripura Violence Issue High On Agenda

Taking a dig at the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Banerjee said that Shah is ‘yet to show courtesy’ and meet the TMC MPs who have been seeking an audience with him over the Tripura ‘violence’ issue.

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday over the enhancement of Border Security Force (BSF) jurisdiction and development of the state during her visit to Delhi.

Addressing the mediapersons in Kolkata on Monday, Banerjee said, “I am going to Delhi because I have an appointment with the Prime Minister the day after tomorrow over the BSF jurisdiction and other development issues of the state.”

Talking about the alleged police brutality in Tripura, The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo said that although she would not join the dharna being staged by her party MPs, she would surely express solidarity with them.

Taking a dig at the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Banerjee said that Shah is ‘yet to show courtesy’ and meet the TMC MPs who have been seeking an audience with him over the Tripura ‘violence’ issue.

Earlier on Monday, 16 TMC MPs, including Derek O’ Brien, Santanu Sen, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy and Mala Roy went to the party office in Delhi and sought an appointment with Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the alleged brutality in Tripura.

Tensions in Tripura have increased ahead of the elections to the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and 12 other civic bodies slated for November 25.

Wondering why the human rights commission was not ‘taking note’ of the violence in Tripura, Mamata Banerjee said that she would appeal to the higher judiciary to act against the Biplab Deb-government as per law.

The West Bengal chief minister would be staying in Delhi till November 25. Her visit to the national capital is taking place days ahead of the winter session of the Parliament that is scheduled to start from November 29.
