Kolkata: West Bengal CM and TMC supremo, Mamata Banerjee launched the "Khela Hobe" initiative today at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.
She had already declared August 16 to be the "Khela Hobe Diwas," in honour of the 16 people who died in a stampede at the famed Eden Gardens during the 1980 match.

One lakh “Joyee” footballs were distributed today at the event today to various clubs. The party supremo was seen throwing the footballs herself after her address.
In the run-up to the West Bengal assembly elections 2021, the TMC's hit slogan “Khela Hobe’ drew widespread attention across the political spectrum where the Trinamool Congress won a landslide victory.
