Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again urged the Election Commission to club the remaining three phases of state assembly election while blaming PM Narendra Modi for the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic.
She has also ruled out Night curfew as a measure to tackle the Covid surge in West Bengal.

Speaking in Kaliganj, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee questioned PM Narendra Modi. "Why didn't you (PM) make plans to stop corona in the last 6 months?... You have to answer this. Prime Minister is responsible for the second wave of COVID19. If he would have taken responsible at right time then this wouldn't have happened," news agency ANI quoted her as saying.
While addressing a gathering in Uttar Dinajpur's Chakulia, Mamata Banerjee once again urged the Election Commission to hold the remaining three phases of state assembly election in a single phase, a suggestion which has not been accepted by the poll body as it stays determined to hold the polling as per schedule.
"With folded hands, I request Election Commission to hold three phases of polls on a single day or in two days. Please don't play with the lives of people,": she said.
Meanwhile, the West Bengal CM has also said that according to her, night curfew is not the solution to this current Coronavirus surge in the state. "We should remain alert, there is nothing to panic," she said.
It has also been informed that the state government has decided to start summer vacation for all schools from tomorrow till June.
Meanwhile, after former Congress President Rahul Gandhi announced that he has cancelled his public rallies in West Bengal in view of the Covid situation, TMC member Derek O'Brien informed that CM Mamata Banerjee will not be campaigning in Kolkata anymore.
"Only one ‘symbolic’ meeting on the last day of campaigning in the city on April 26. Slashes time for all her election rallies in all districts. Restricted to just 30 minutes," he wrote.
