New Delhi: A viral video in which an army soldier can be seen standing amid heavy snowfall in the valley guarding the nation is winning hearts of netizens. The public relations office (PRO) Udhampur, Ministry of Defence on Friday posted the video on its official Twitter account garnered huge appreciation and praise from netizens.


The tweet also quoted famous lines of a Rudyard Kipling poem. The video exemplifies how the troops continue to perform their tasks even in these hostile weather conditions to protect the nation.

In another video posted by the news agency ANI shows the Indian Army post at around 17,000 feet altitude along the Line of Control in the Kupwara sector, J&K covered with snow due to heavy snowfall in the region.</p






Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed heavy snowfall this year and the orange alert has been sounded for the region due to inclement weather conditions.


The India Meteorological Department department (IMD) also warned of avalanche (landslide) in vulnerable areas in the Valley, and said that the inclement weather may affect surface as well as air transportation on Saturday.


The Valley witnessed heavy snowfall on the upper reaches and at the tourist resorts of Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Pahalgam, northern and southern parts of Kashmir this week. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will receive heavy rainfall and snow on Saturday as the western disturbance is very active in that region, according to IMD.


Srinagar Airport said that flights were delayed due to low visibility triggered by rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir.


The met department on Saturday morning said the snowfall and rain activity in the state will decrease from the evening and significant improvement will be observed from Sunday. Srinagar-Leh highway passing through the Zoji-La pass was on Thursday closed for civilian vehicular movement till further orders, due to continuous spell of snowfall and extreme weather, informed Ladakh Administration.


The inclement weather has heavily impacted flight operations in the Valley with several of them either delayed or cancelled over the last two days.
