WATCH: Bengal CM Mamata Rides Pillion On Bike After Candle March To Support Protesting Wrestlers

The TMC leader also held a rally in support of the wrestlers on Wednesday where she said, "Our team will go to meet the wrestlers and support them."

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Thursday participated in a candlelight march to the Gandhi statue in Kolkata in support of wrestlers protesting at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, alleged of sexually harassing women grapplers. During the march, Banerjee also rode pillion on a motorcycle.

In the video shared by news agency ANI, Mamata Banerjee can be seen surrounded by a large number of TMC supporters. Some of them are even helping her wear the helmet and get on to the bike which is being driven by another person.

The TMC leader also held a rally in support of the wrestlers on Wednesday where she said, "Our team will go to meet the wrestlers and support them. We are with you, that's why we have taken out this rally today. It will be continued tomorrow also. Wrestlers are the pride of our country. We are with you in your fight," reported ANI.

On Tuesday too Banerjee had held a press conference and backed the protesting wrestlers by saying, "Our wrestlers were beaten up and tortured. I talked to wrestlers and extended our support to them. We are in solidarity with them,"

"A person is accused of physical assault, why he is not being arrested? 'Puja-path' happens only when humanity is worshipped," Banerjee further said as reported by PTI.

Meanwhile, the Wrestling Federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Thursday alleged the protesting wrestlers of changing their demands continuously.

"First they (protesting wrestlers) had some other demand & later they demanded something else. They are changing their demands and language continuously. I had said that if even one case against me gets proven, I will hang myself...I stand by my statement...," said Singh, as reported by ANI.

Since April 23, the wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar demanding the arrest of the WFI chief.
