Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami here on Thursday condoled death several person owing to the gas leak at LG Polymers' India plant in Visakhapatnam. Palaniswami said he was grieved on hearing about death of several people in a gas leak at a chemical factory in Andhra Pradesh.

Indian Navy teams with about 50 breathing sets and associated portable air compressor rushed to help villagers affected by the gas leak near the LG Polymers Industry in Vizag during the wee hours of Thursday. The Indian Navy has provided five Portable Multifeed Oxygen Manifolds sets to the King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to help the medical administration in tendering the villagers affected due to gas leak.

BREAKING: Death toll in Vizag gas leak rises to 10
Principal Secretary to PM Dr. PK Mishra held a high-level review meeting with Cabinet Secy, Home Secy , NDMA, NDRF, Director AIIMS & medical experts on Vizag Gas Leak situation.



Mishra has directed to send team of experts to Visakhapatnam and also measures for relief, rescue and short term as well as long term medical impact. Detailed press briefing on it to be held at National Media Centre in Delhi at 2.15 pm today.

I thought I'll die: Vizag gas leak survivor



I thought I would die. I don't know how I survived." This was how a gas leak survivor in Visakhapatnam shared her experience.

"Nobody knew what was happening and all were running to save themselves," said the woman undergoing treatment at King George Hospital (KGH), where most of the gas victims were brought for treatment.

She said she and her children woke up as they felt difficulty in breathing. "There was utter confusion. We saw people running and we too rushed out," said the woman, who got separated from her two children in the melee.

They all fell unconscious and later found themselves in hospitals. "I can't even speak properly. The children are recovering," she said.

Yediyurappa on Thursday expressed sadness over the gas leak incident at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and said his thoughts and prayers are with the families affected .

800 shifted to hospital :
Right now gas has been neutralised. One of the antidote is drinking a lot of water. Around 800 were shifted to hospital, many have been discharged. Investigation will be carried out to see how this happened: Andhra Pradesh DGP Damodar Goutam Sawang.

Vizag gas leak an accident, company was following protocols, says Andhra DGP



Vizag Gas Leak is an accident. They were strictly following all protocols. Investigation underway. Forensic teams are also being sent to the spot: Andhra Pradesh DGP Damodar Goutam Sawang.
Vizag Gas Leak occurred at around 3:30 am today morning. The evacuation operation is still underway.



The plant was shut due to the countrywide lockdown
Company needs to clarify what protocols were followed , says Andhra Minister



After gas leakage was reported in the factory, lockdown procedure was initiated immediately. Local admin was informed. Gas was neutralized to harmless liquid form. But, little gas escaped factory premises and affected people in nearby areas, said Andhra Pradesh Minister MG Reddy.



Company managing this has to be responsible for #VizagGasLeak mishap. They'll have to come & explain us exactly what all protocols were followed, and what all were not followed. Accordingly, criminal action will be taken against them, he said.
Total 27 persons are involved in the relief and rescue operation being conducted by NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) who are expert in dealing with industrial leakage. 80 to 90 percent evacuation is completed: NDRF DG to ANI
