According to the news agency's report, a bus loaded with passengers fell into a trench

The local police also informed ABP News that overloading could be one of the reasons behind the accident. The police said the bus was small and 25 people were onboard.  It is being said that there were not many buses available on that route, so such a large number of people boarded the same bus.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami condoled the demise of people in the road accident in Chakrata.  He has also asked the district administration to make the relief and rescue operation quick and provide immediate medical aid to the injured.

Uttarakhand has been witnessing back-to-back tragedies for the past few months. A week ago, the state was hit by a heavy downpour which resulted in heavy floods and landslides taking the lives of around 80 people. Floods wrecked the lives of people as incessant rain and mudslides damaged homes and roads across the state. Tress were uprooted, electricity and water supply were interrupted and people were forced to leave their homes as many houses submerged in floods.
