Officials announced on Thursday that two Uttar Pradesh's police officers were dismissed from their posts and sent to the police lines for allegedly concealing a weapon in a motorbike and then arresting the two-wheeler's owner on suspicion of unlawfully carrying a firearm, news agency PTI reported. On Tuesday, the youth was apprehended.

The youth's family said that two police officers, Dinesh and Santosh, raided their home in Khudawali village, claiming to have knowledge about illicit weaponry stored there.

In response to the incident, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on his official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle writes: “First they keep it themselves and then recover it, their raid and detention is false."

They discovered a homemade handgun hidden in a bike. However, after scanning the CCTV tape, the youth's family claimed that the two police officers themselves retained the guns in the bike. The CCTV video shows a number of police officers entering a property. One of the cops places something in the parked motorbike. The youth's family claimed the bike belonged them and accused the police of working with the opposite party in the property dispute case and putting the weapon at their request, IANS reported.

They also alleged that the authorities are attempting to seize the CCTV recordings.
