Lucknow: In a bizarre incident, a female caller working at the Covid Command Centre in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow allegedly misbehaved with a coronavirus patient during a telephonic conversation and asked him to die instead of informing him about the government-prescribed treatment and guidelines to be followed under home isolation.
This came to the fore as an audio of the conversation has gone viral on social media.
The victim Santosh Kumar Singh, who is the son of former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator Manohar Singh, has lodged a complaint with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office along with the audio clip demanding action against the helpdesk staff.

Singh said that he and his entire family tested Covid-19 positive on April 12 and went into home isolation following the doctors’ advice, adding he received a call from the Covid Command Centre three days later.
The conversation started with the helpdesk employee asking him whether he had downloaded the government’s home isolation app and filled in the required details. The caller got livid when Singh replied in the negative and hung the phone saying “you better go and die”.
The victim later expressed disappointment with the helpdesk employee’s attitude stating such callers will ruin the state government’s efforts to provide treatment to the patients under home isolation.
