Following the derailment of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express train in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh called for the resignation of Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Ghosh said that while resignation won't resolve the issue of rail accidents, the Rail Minister should step down on moral grounds to take responsibility for the mishap.

"There are repeated rail accidents happening, the rail minister should resign... The entire railway system and passenger security are compromised, collapsing; this is a complete failure of the Modi government... Resignation is not the solution, but if accidents keep happening repeatedly, then taking moral responsibility, he will have to resign," Ghosh said, ANI reported.

Kunal Ghosh Urges For Compensation

He also asked the government to pay compensation of at least Rs 50-50 lakh to the families of the deceased. "This is a matter of investigation. Many train-related incidents have happened. Train accidents are happening continuously, people are losing their lives... If anyone is the biggest culprit, then it is the Railway Minister. The Railway Minister should resign...The families of the deceased should be given a compensation of at least Rs 50-50 lakh," Ghosh added.
