Akhilesh Yadav's estranged uncle Shivpal Yadav has also expressed his desire for an alliance with the Samajwadi Party in the past. In the 2017 state elections, he was elected from the Jaswantnagar assembly constituency but later floated a new political party -- Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia)-- and contested Lok Sabha elections from Firozabad in 2019.
Speaking to the reporters on Saturday, Akhilesh Yadav also said that his party is in talks with smaller parties but won’t be making an alliance with any major ones. The SP Chief made clear that his party will not be making alliance with any major party in assembly polls. He has also ruled out any possibility of any kind of alliance with the BSP.
