Lucknow: In a tragic incident, about 19 people died after a truck rammed into a double-decker bus near Ram Sanehi Ghat in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki. The private bus was on its way to Bihar carrying passengers from Ludhiana, Punjab when it stopped on the side of the road as it broke down. While 19 people have been reported dead in this accident, more than 25 people are injured.
A rescue operation is going on to retrieve the bodies trapped under the bus. 19 people have been admitted to the hospital.

Late last night at around 12 o'clock on the Lucknow-Ayodhya National Highway-28 near the Kalyani river bridge, the bus parked on the roadside was rammed into by a speeding truck. After the incident, SP Yamuna Prasad was present on the spot along with a heavy police force.
All the victims of the accident were laborers, who were going from Punjab to Bihar. The bus suddenly broke down on the way. All the workers were just waiting for the recovery. Some passengers were standing on the road after getting off the bus. Then the speeding truck hit it. The injured have been admitted to many other hospitals including the Trauma Center and Medical College of Barabanki District Hospital.
According to an ANI report, Satya Narayan Sabat, Additional Director General (ADG), Lucknow Zone said that the injured people have been hospitalized.
"The bus driver had asked passengers to rest while he was repairing the bus. Soon after, a truck collided with the parked bus resulting in many casualties," Sabat told ANI.
While speaking to ABP News, SN Sabat of Uttar Pradesh said, "Most of the people in the bus were returning to their homes after working in Punjab and Haryana. People were lying near the bus after getting down from the bus. The oncoming truck hit the bus, killing about 18 people. Still, many people are buried under the bus."
The double-decker bus, en route to Bihar from Haryana, was parked on the side of the road at the time of the accident with passengers inside it.
PM Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each from PMNRF for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident in Barabanki, UP. The injured would be given Rs 50,000 each.
