He tested positive for Covid-19 in a test conducted at the airport on November 9, after which his samples were sent for genome sequencing.

"The patient has been admitted to a hospital as a precautionary measure and he has no symptoms," the civic body said in a release.

This brings the total tally to 15 the tally of Omicron patients found in the country's financial capital to 15, including five who are from outside Mumbai. Out of the 15, 13 have already been released from the hospital.

In fact, none of the 15 Omicron patients found in the city so far has reported severe symptoms, the BMC said.

The total tally of the Omicron variant in Maharashtra is 40 currently, and everyday it seems to be increasing.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, twelve more people tested positive for the new Covid variant Omicron in Delhi on Friday, taking their number to 22, and officials said most of them are "fully vaccinated" and "asymptomatic".

Ten of the 22 patients have been discharged, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said. A senior doctor at the Lok Nayak Hospital, where a special facility has been set up for isolating and treating suspected Omicron cases, said most of the patients are fully vaccinated and asymptomatic.

"Some of them have mild symptoms such as mild fever, body ache and sore throat," he said.

The doctor also said that two Omicron patients are "contacts of those who had tested Covid positive upon arrival at the airport".
