UP Polls 2022: BSP Chief Mayawati Assures Brahmin Community Of 'Security' If Voted To Power
“I assure the Brahmin community that if we come to power in the next elections, we will ensure their security,” said Mayawati.
Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Tuesday assured security to the Brahmin community if her party is voted to power in Uttar Pradesh in the assembly polls scheduled to be held next year.
“I assure the Brahmin community that if we come to power in the next elections, we will ensure their security,” said Mayawati.
“We should join more people from the Brahmin community with us for the upcoming elections to form the government with majority, similar to 2007,” she added addressing the ‘Prabudh Sammelan’ in Lucknow.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said the Brahmins have agreed that people from their community were in a better condition during the BSP regime as compared to the present Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule in the state.
“Now, I will focus only on the development of Uttar Pradesh and not on building parks and 'smaraks' in the state,” she added, ANI reported.
The BSP chief’s remarks came as she has drawn flak on this issue over years.
Mayawati also invited the BSP supporters and others to pay their tribute to party founder Kanshi Ram on his death anniversary.
“I request you all to come to Lucknow to pay tribute to Kanshi Ram Ji at Kanshiram Smarak Sthal on October 9 on his death anniversary. Everyone should follow all the COVID protocols,” she said.
Mayawati also took potshots at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP for behaving like the “Muslims are adopted”.
“I want to ask him if Hindus and Muslims in India have same ancestors then why the RSS and BJP behave like the Muslims are adopted,” she said reacting to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks that Hindus and Muslims in India have same ancestors.
Earlier on Monday, Bhagwat said the Hindus and Muslims share the same ancestry and every Indian citizen is a “Hindu”.
The RSS chief said the “sane” Muslim leaders should stand firmly against fundamentalists.

“The word Hindu was equivalent to motherland, ancestors and Indian culture. This is not disrespecting other views. We have to think in terms of gaining Indian dominance and not Muslim dominance,” he said speaking at an event in Mumbai organised by Pune-based Global Strategic Policy Foundation.
