Unlock 3:  Delhi LG Anil Baijal on Friday (July 31) rejected the Delhi government's decision to allow hotels and weekly markets under Unlock 3, citing the "fragile" situation amid coronavirus pandemic. The LG has refused the Kejriwal government plan to open hotels on a trial basis.

According to reports, the lieutenant governor has taken this decision as the COVID-19 situation continues to be a threat and is still "far from over".

The Delhi government on Thursday decided to end night curfew and allow more economic activities, including the normal functioning of hospitality services, in the national capital under 'Unlock-3' guidelines. The government had also allowed weekly markets on a trial basis for seven days with social distancing and all necessary COVID 19-appropriate measures in place, it said.

COVID situation in the national capital

Delhi reports 1,195 new COVID19 cases, 1,206 recovered/discharged/migrated cases and 27 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total cases here rise to 1,35,598 including 1,20,930 recovered/discharged/migrated cases and 3,963 deaths. There are 10,705 active cases, according to the Government of Delhi

5,629 RT-PCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 13,462 rapid antigen tests conducted today in Delhi. Total tests done so far stands at 10,32,785, as per the data by the Delhi government.

Unlock 3 guidelines by the Centre

On Wednesday, the Centre had issued nationwide Unlock 3 guidelines, opening up more activities outside coronavirus containment zones, but schools, colleges, metro services, cinema halls along with bars will continue to remain shut till August 31. The Unlock 3 guidelines will come into force from August 1.

However, certain restrictions continue to follow in view of the surging COVID-19 cases in the country. As per the guidelines, social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious functions, and other large congregations still not permitted.

On reopening of schools and other educational institutions, the government said that after extensive consultation with states and UTs, it has been decided that schools, colleges, and coaching institutions will remain closed till August 31.
