NAWADA: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday landed in a controversy after he visited the families of two riot-accused right-wing leaders in Bihar's Nawada. Singh, who got emotional during his visit, consoled the family members of Bajrang Dal's Jitendra Pratap and VHP's Kailash Vishwakarma and expressed solidarity with them. The families briefed the minister about the incident and claimed that both the VHP leaders were falsely accused in riot cases, which date back to July 2017. Singh said people marched to sadbhawana chowk for communal harmony on July 3 last year but the district administration laid false charges against them. He said he was also with them during Ram Navami celebrations. This comes two days after Union minister Jayant Sinha has stoked a row by felicitating eight convicts in the Ramgarh lynching case when they came out of prison on bail. Meat trader Alimuddin Ansari was beaten to death on June 29 last year by a mob at the Bazaar Tand area under Ramgarh police station on the suspicion that he was carrying beef in his car. The eight convicts had thanked Sinha for helping them get a lawyer who took their case to the high court.
