New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the Western Zonal Council meeting in Diu today. During his day-long visit to Diu, the Home Minister will also unveil other development initiatives and dedicate the ex-INS Khukri as a museum, news agency ANI reported.


In addition, the Home Minister will meet with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office bearers and 'karyakartas' (party workers).


Around 11 a.m. today, Shah will preside over a meeting of the Western Zonal Council, which includes Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu, in Diu.


The zonal council is anticipated to debate a wide variety of concerns, including boundaries, security, and infrastructure-related issues such as roads, transportation, industries, water, and power.

The meeting is expected to be attended by the Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa, as well as the administrators of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.


On Sunday, at 10.45 a.m., Shah will address the 46th convocation ceremony of the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) and inaugurate/lay the foundation stone of a number of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation development projects in Gujarat, ANI reported.


In the afternoon, he will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several development projects of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation.


Later that evening, the Home Minister would lay the groundwork for the repair of Gujarat's Shaila Lakelet in Sanand.
