Govt Convenes All-Party Meeting On July 21 To Set Tone For Budget Session, TMC To Skip

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will host an All-Party Meeting on July 21 to discuss the upcoming Budget Session, which begins on July 22 and ends on August 12.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju will convene an All-Party Meeting with floor leaders from both houses of Parliament ahead of the upcoming Budget Session. Scheduled for 11 A.M. on July 21 at the Main Committee Room, Parliament House Annexe in New Delhi, the meeting aims to discuss the agenda for the Budget Session. This information was released by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

The Budget Session is set to commence on July 22 and is expected to conclude on August 12, subject to the demands of Government Business.

Notably, this will be the first time Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, will attend the customary pre-session meeting if he chooses to do so. However, the Trinamool Congress has announced that no representatives from their party will attend the meeting as July 21 is observed as Martyrs' Day by the party, news agency PTI reported. This day commemorates the memory of 13 Congress supporters who were killed in police firing during a march to the state secretariat in 1993, when the CPI(M)-led Left Front was in power in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee, then the state Youth Congress chief, has continued to mark the day with a rally every year, even after forming the Trinamool Congress in 1998.
