'Thain-thain' fame policeman injured in gunfight with criminals in UP's Sambhal

Manoj Kumar had shot to fame in October last year for shouting 'thain thain' while chasing two criminals. The video went so viral that some youngsters in Delhi had organised an underground event to chant 'Thain Thain' instead of bursting crackers to send out a message of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali.

Lucknow: UP cop Manoj Kumar who screamed ‘thain thain’ to allegedly scare criminals during an encounter in October suffered bullet injuries this morning in a gunfight with criminals. Reports say Kumar was part of a team which had set off to nab two criminals. As they tried to catch hold the duo travelling on a motortcyle, one of them fired bullets on Kumar. During retaliation from the police’s end, one of the criminals, identified as Saddam suffered bullet injuries and was immediately apprehended. His accomplice successfully managed to escape from the spot. Kumar and Saddam were taken to Sambhal district hospital for medical treatment. Kumar had shot to fame in October last year for shouting 'thain thain' while allegedly chasing two criminals. The video went so viral that some youngsters in Delhi had organised an underground event to chant 'Thain Thain' instead of bursting crackers to send out a message of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali.
