NEW DELHI: A picture of Telangana minister Azmeera Chandulal driving past the body of a road accident victim went viral on Social media, drawing flak from netizens.

The Tourism and Tribal Welfare minister is facing strong criticism for not stopping by and inquiring about the body of the victim lying on the road.

According to Hindustan Times, the incident happened on Sunday when a Tata Ace truck rammed into the motorcycle of Taduri Madhusudhana Chary, who was travelling to Ramappa temple along with his two friends. The pillion riders survived the accident but Chary, 30, died on the spot.

While people were waiting for a vehicle to locate the victim to hospital, a convoy of cars belonging to Chandulal zoomed past the spot.

Offering clarification on the incident, Chandulal said though he had seen the body on the road but could not stop as he was in a hurry to visit his relative, who was in a critical condition.

“I was busy attending a call from my relatives when my convoy went past the accident spot. In the normal circumstances, I would have got down and called on the accident victims but I was in a hurry then,” HT quoted the minister as saying.

“It is not that I lack humanity. After all, they are my constituency people,” he added.
