Telangana Assembly election 2018: Ahead of the much-crucial Assembly polls in 5 states of the country which is scheduled to take place later this month, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its list of 28 candidates for the legislative assembly of Telangana. The state will go for polling on December 7 and counting of votes will take place on December 11. BJP has finalised the names of leaders including Er K Lalrimawia, Jacomn T Vanlawma, B Lianthlira, P Sanghmingthanga and S Vadyyu amongst others. In Telangana, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had dissolved the assembly on September 6, paving way for early elections. This time, TRS will face a high-decibel electoral battle with both BJP and Congress who are eyeing to form government in the state. Telangana has 119 assembly seats.


Recently, the Congress made it clear that it will contest 95 seats in the upcoming Telangana Assembly Election 2018. Under the seat sharing agreement, the party has allotted 14 seats to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and 10 to Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the Communist Party of India. Reports suggest that Congress has fielded leaders including Uttar Kumar Reddy, Revanth Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Sabita Indrareddy, DK Aruna and Jana Reddy, among others in the state.

The Congress has already announced farm loan waiver of up to Rs. two lakh and Rs. 3,000 monthly dole to unemployed youth, among other assurances, if it comes to power. The TRS has also announced candidates for 107 constituencies in the state.

Recently, TRS leader KT Rama Rao trained guns at Congress President Rahul Gandhi for criticising the state government over including irrigation projects. Rao accused Rahul Gandhi of uttering lies about the government. Mocking Gandhi over Congress’ loss in Amethi in UP civic elections, Rama Rao said “Uttar Pradesh is your own state. You should first win there.”
