New Delhi: Former Bharatiya Janta Party ally TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday could be seen making attempts to unite an opposition against BJP for the forthcoming elections, as held meetings with several opposition leaders including Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) patron Faqooq Abdullah and Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, and Akhilesh Yadav.

Mulayam’s meeting with Naidu came a day after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav urged him to bring non-BJP parties on a single platform ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Naidu, who met several opposition leaders in the national capital Saturday and Thursday, said he would play the role of a "facilitator" in helping evolve a credible alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dispensation.

Naidu on Thursday announced its support to Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections next year.

Naidu indulging in political tourism: BJP

The BJP took a dig at N Chandrababu Naidu over his meetings with several opposition leaders, saying he was indulging in "political tourism".  Naidu is diverting attention from Andhra Pradesh where he is facing  imminent defeat in next state and parliamentary elections.

"He comes to Delhi for political tourism and photo session," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
