Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has filed a criminal defamation case against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, seeking legal action in the Nampally Court. This follows a legal notice KTR had earlier sent demanding a public apology from Konda Surekha for allegedly making defamatory remarks against him.

KTR's decision to pursue a criminal case comes after what he claims are repeated, unfounded statements by Konda Surekha. He emphasized that she had been reprimanded by the Election Commission in the past for similar conduct. In his case, KTR argued that her remarks were not only baseless but also part of a larger conspiracy aimed at damaging his reputation with malicious intent.

KTR has urged that these recurring defamatory comments be treated as criminal offenses, citing deliberate and malicious actions behind the statements. The court will now deliberate on the case and proceed as per the law.

After involving KTR in a controversial statement related to actors, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha's divorce, Surekha also sparked a controversy by alleging that BRS leader KTR was responsible for the absence of his father KCR.

Meanwhile, the Nampally Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday recorded actor Nagarjuna Akkineni's statement as the hearing began in his criminal defamation case against Telangana minister Konda Surekha, as per a report on IANS. Nagarjuna arrived at the court complex accompanied by his wife Amala Akkineni, son Naga Chaitanya, sister Naga Sushila, and daughter-in-law Supriya Yarlagadda.

During the proceedings, the court asked Nagarjuna to explain why he had filed the petition. The actor stated that the minister's remarks had harmed the dignity and reputation of his family, specifically citing comments regarding his son Naga Chaitanya's divorce from actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
