Tirunelveli police have registered a case against Jalal Ahmad, the owner of Jal NEET Academy, for allegedly physically assaulting students. Ahmad was caught on camera using sticks to beat boys and throwing footwear at girls. The incident, which allegedly occurred last month, only came to public attention after a complaint was registered and the video went viral on social media.

Last month, Jalal Ahmad took to the violent outburst after students slept during early morning classes and a girl misplacing her footwear outside the classroom, as reported by The New Indian Express. The footage led to a formal complaint by staff members and several students prompting police action.

Tirunelveli City Commissioner Rupesh Kumar Meena confirmed the registration of the case against Ahmad, who hails from Kerala. An investigation is underway.

Based on the video, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has also intervened with member V. Kannadasan visiting the academy to conduct an inquiry.

The incident is also under probe by Tirunelveli District Child Protection Unit after a complaint was filed with them, reported ETV Bharat.

Meanwhile, the academy, known for its rigorous schedule from 8 AM to 8 PM and fees ranging between Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000, had previously earned a reputation for helping students secure admissions to government medical colleges, as per a report on South First. However, this recent incident has raised concerns about the methods employed by the institution.
