New Delhi: A mysterious explosion was reported in Delhi’s Rohini Court on Thursday morning, news agency PTI cited fire officials saying.


The fire officials stated that they received information about the explosion at 10.40 am, after which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

The suspicious explosion at the Rohini Court happened in a laptop bag while a court proceeding was underway, news agency ANI reported DCP Pranav Tayal as informing. One injured person has been admitted to a hospital, reported ANI.



The proceedings in the court were suspended following the explosion. The spot of the low-intensity explosion was cordoned and the forensic and National Security Guard (NSG) teams reached there to inspect the site.



Previously, in September, gunmen disguised as lawyers, present in the courtroom, shot gangster Jitender Gogi who was there for a hearing.


As per news agency ANI, the assailants took out their weapons from under their lawyers’ robes and opened fire at Gogi. Special force personnel escorting the gangster then fired back, killing both the attackers on the spot.


Following this incident, the security arrangements at the court came under the scanner.


The Delhi Police had informed the Delhi High Court that the security of all the seven District Courts was taken over by the Security Unit, a specialised unit of city police.


Necessary security arrangements and staff were being deployed accordingly. 


As per ANI, Delhi Police also stated that the security gadgets, installed at Court premises are outdated and should be updated or replaced with high-resolution CCTV and monitors, 360-degree vehicle scanning with RF Tag /Bar Code Reader facilities, scanners for luggage and bag checking, scanners for explosive and NDPS checking, boom Barriers, etc. 


Meanwhile, more details about the explosion are awaited.
