Coronavirus: Actor turned politician Sunny Deol has tested positive for Covid-19, the Block Medical Officer of the Manali, Himachal Pradesh has confirmed. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Gurdaspur MP and his friends who have been staying in Kullu district for some days were planning to leave for Mumbai, but he tested positive on Tuesday. He is following all the instructions given by the authorities and taking necessary precautions, and is to remain in Manali under home quarantine.

As per news agency PTI, the health secretary said that according to information received from the district chief medical officer, the MP and his friends were planning to leave for Mumbai, but his COVID-19 test result came out positive on Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning, Deol tweeted to inform about the same, "I underwent the Covid-19 test and tested positive for the same. I am doing fine healthwise and am under isolation. I urge all those who came in contact with me in the last few days, to isolate and get tested."


The 64-year-old Bollywood actor had undergone a shoulder surgery at Mumbai and was recuperating at a farmhouse near Manali in Kullu district.

The news of Deol testing positive came a day after the announcement of the sequel of Apne, the film which stars the Deol trio.

On Monday he had announced that he is set to collaborate with his son, actor Karan Deol for the sequel of "Apne", which will also feature his father, veteran star Dharmendra and actor-brother Bobby Deol
