Three people were arrested on Sunday morning in connection with the murder of Rajput leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi from Chandigarh, reported PTI. The three men arrested by the police included two shooters who were nabbed during a joint operation by the  Delhi Police Crime Branch and the Rajasthan Police.


The Rajput leader was gunned down in the living room of his house in Jaipur on December 5 triggering widespread protests in Rajasthan and neighbouring Madhya Pradesh by the members of the community. 


"Delhi Police Crime Branch, in joint operation with Rajasthan Police, arrests three men, including two shooters, from Chandigarh for alleged involvement in killing of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi," said the police in its statement on Sunday. 






All the accused were brought to the Crime Branch office in the national capital, as per visuals shared by ANI. 


Two alleged killers in the case were identified as Rohit Rathore from Jaipur and Nitin Fauji from Haryana's Mahendragarh by the police who had announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to their arrest.


According to the PTI report, sources in the Delhi Police said that the duo was nabbed from Chandigarh's Sector 22 during its joint operation with the Rajasthan Police. 


The accused will be handed over to Rajasthan Police for further questioning, the PTI report added.

Following the murder, an 11-member Special Investigation Team was formed to nab the accused. 


Earlier, a man was arrested on Saturday from Jaipur for allgedly contracting the shooters to kill the Karni Sena chief. 


As per the police, Ramveer Jat was one of the conspirators in the case who had prepared the groundwork for Fauji, his friend, in Jaipur ahead of the killing.
