New Delhi: The headmistress of a high school in Odisha's Ganjam district has been suspended after a video showing kids dancing in a classroom to a song from the Telugu hit 'Pushpa' went popular on social media, according to an official, news agency PTI reported.
Several kids from Baramundali High School's Sheragada block gathered in the smart classroom. The lecturers had given some tips for the High School Certificate exams before leaving the room without locking it.
"Some students who were present in the room might have linked the TV with their mobile phones," the district official was quoted by PTI in its report.
They were seen dancing to the beats of 'Srivalli,' a famous song from the Allu Arjun movie, in two 14 and 24 second videos that went viral on social media platforms lately.
The music was playing on the LED television that had been erected in the classroom as part of the school transformation programme to teach the students.
Headmistress Sujata Padhy was handed a show-cause notice, according to Block Development Officer Bhaskar Lenka, but she did not respond satisfactorily.
Padhy has been suspended from work since Wednesday, according to District Education Officer Binita Senapati.
The official went on to say that an investigation was underway and that other teachers will be disciplined for dereliction of duty.
