Mumbai: Residents of the housing society in Maharastra's Kalyan gathered in their balconies to welcome a six-month-old with whistles and claps as the infant returned home with his mother after getting discharged from Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday.

The baby's grandparents and father are undergoing treatment after testing positive for the virus. The Mother and her 6-year-old child had tested negative for COVID-19.

The Infant's six-year-old sibling stayed with a family friend, residing in the same society. As per India Today TV report, the family friend was harassed by some residents of the same society for letting the boy stay with him as they feared that he could also be infected with COVID-19 and infect other children in the housing society.

However, the matter was resolved after a police team warned the residents of action if any such incident again comes to light.

Speaking to India Today TV, the baby's mother said, "All the residents were in their respective balconies and some of them had also come at the entry gate. As we got off the ambulance, they clapped and whistled."

She added, "We came to know that some police officials had come and counselled the residents who had been harassing our family friend. It is really nice to see the residents welcoming us now."
