New Delhi: The sister of the slain Lab technician Sanjeet Yadav has accused the Uttar Pradesh police of serious lapses in the investigation of her brother’s murder case. She has said that at the outset, it was clear that this was not a case of kidnapping yet the police did not pay heed to apprehensions cited by her family.

“There has been a lot of lapses from the police. It is so evident that this was not a case of kidnapping. If it was, then we would have got a ransom call on the second or third day, but instead, we received a call on the eighth day after he was already dead. The police are just trying to dupe us with fake perpetrators,” said Sanjeet Yadav’s sister Ruchi during an interview with ABP news.

Ruchi also discussed the ill-fated attempt of the police to capture the criminals by making the family answer a ransom call. Reports say the family was told to bring Rs 30 lakh at a designated spot on July 13. The police had accompanied them to catch the perpetrators in the act, but unfortunately the ‘alleged kidnappers’ ran away with the money. Ruchi also said that the family is not ready to believe in the version of the UP police.

“There are so many discrepancies in the statements made by the police, and we are not ready to believe in what they are saying. This is the reason we demand a CBI probe, “said Ruchi.

She also said that the family will continue to fight for justice and ensure that the true culprits are found.

Sanjeet Yadav who worked as a lab technician in Kanpur went missing on June 22. According to media reports the police said that Yadav was kidnapped on June 22 and was murdered around June 26-27 by his friends. They also claim that his body was thrown into the Pandu River. But in over a month, the police have been unable to find the body. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday suspended four police officers including IPS officer Aparna Gupta and then Deputy SP Manoj Gupta over poor management of the investigation.
