Lata Mangeshkar's body will be at her Peddar Road house till afternoon on Sunday, while her body will be cremated at Shivaji Park in Mumbai at 6:30 pm.

The doyen of Indian playback singing was hospitalized on January 8 after she tested positive for Covid-19 and was experiencing mild symptoms. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital where she was under the treatment of Dr Pratit Samdani and his team of doctors.

Dr Samdani had on Saturday told news agency PTI that the singer was under aggressive therapy and was tolerating the procedures well.

Earlier in the day, informing about her sudden deterioration of health condition, Samdani had said she had to be put back on ventilator support.

Mangeshkar was visited upon by her sister Asha Bhosle apart from other high-profile personalities, including Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and NCP leader Supriya Sule.

On January 29, Samdani had said that Mangeshkar was showing signs of marginal improvement and was taken off the ventilator support. However, she continued to be under observation in the ICU.

Considered to be one of the legends of singing in Indian cinema, Mangeshkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 2001.
