New Delhi: After six years, the Sheena Bora murder case has come into the limelight again as the main accused and Sheena’s mother Indrani Mukerjea has appealed to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look for her in Kashmir.

According to a report by India Today, Mukerjea has written a letter to the CBI saying that a jail inmate told her that she saw Sheena alive in Kashmir.

Mukerjea is accused of murdering her daughter in 2012 and has been in the Byculla jail in Mumbai since her arrest in 2015. Her ex-husbands Peter Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna are co-accused in the case. Peter Mukerjea was granted bail last year.

Sheena Bora Murder Case

In 2015, Indrani Mukerjea’s driver Shyamvar Rai was caught with a gun by the Mumbai police where he claimed to be a witness to a murder.

The Sheena Bora Murder case came to light after Rai claimed that Mukerjea had strangled her daughter in Bandra and disposed of her mortal remains in Raigad district.

During the investigation, the mortal remains were found by the investigating agencies. The claims, however, were refuted by Mukerjea, who fabricated a story of Sheena having moved abroad to make a career.

Current Developments

In the current developments, along with the letter to CBI, Mukerjea has moved an application to the special CBI court which is likely to come up for hearing soon according to India Today.

Mukerjea’s bail plea was rejected by the Bombay High Court last month and as per her lawyer Sana Khan, she is likely to move to the Supreme Court soon.
